7-9 Month Milestones Checklist
*Remember each baby will reach the milestones when he/she is ready. If your baby has not reached all of these milestones by 9 months do not worry as it may occur in the next month. Talk to your doctor and see how you can help encourage your baby.

- Sits without support
- Sits and reaches for objects without falling
- Moves from back to stomach
- Moves from tummy to sitting
- Starts to move while on stomach (ie crawling, creeping)
- Shows control when rolling and sitting
- Picks up small objects with thumbs and fingers
- Rocks back and forth
Sensory
- Explores and examines an object with hands and mouth
- Looks around at things nearby
- Moves object from one hand to another
- Shows interest in objects and tries to reach objects far away
Communication
- Imitates sounds
- Follows some commands when paired with gestures
- Recognition of common words
- Strings vowels together ("ah," "eh," "oh')
- Responds to his/her name
Feeding
- Eats thicker food
- Tries to hold the bottle while in the high chair
- Stays full longer
- Shows reaction to new smells and tastes
