Questions for the Hospital Tour

  • Can you pre-register?
  • What insurance do you take, what is covered in my deductible and what is not covered? Are the doctors delivering the baby part of the hospital cost or are they separate? 
  • How many people can be in the labor room?
  • Are the labor rooms private or are they shared, as well as bathrooms?
  • Are kids allowed?
  • What happens if you have to have an emergency C-section?

  • What is the hospitals policy on pain management and what are the options?
  • What is the procedure for high risk pregnancy and what is provided?
  • Do you work with any cord blood companies?
  • How many births happen on average a day?
  • What happens if the hospital is full?
  • Is someone allowed to stay overnight with me?
  • Visiting hours?
  • Where is the cafeteria or food that is available and hours they are open? 
  • Is there a lactation consultant available after you deliver the baby?
  • Does the hospital provide breast pumps or do you need to bring yours?
  • Does the baby stay with you over night or do they have to sleep in the nursery?
  • What information is given when you are ready to go home?
